Firstly, some people believe that a vegetarian diet is healthier than a meat-eating diet because we are always warned to reduce our fat intake and the vegetarian diet contains little fat. In addition, it has been proved that by having a vegetarian diet, we can reduce our risk of dying of cancer, heart problems, and other systems of the body. Secondly, some think raising animals in factory farm conditions can be cruel. In order to be ready to be served as a meal, the animals have to go through a variety of steps which some are actually horrifying. Not only do they get killed but they suffer a lot in the preceding stages. Finally, as it is commonly known, vegetables are cheaper than meat throughout the whole world. This would be an attractive factor to trigger non-vegetarians who may want to spend less on eating to become vegetarians.
However, research has shown that the nutrition we get from vegetables is not enough for a normal person’s body system. For example, the sufficient protein necessary for our body functioning every day cannot be gained if we only eat vegetables. Consequently, unbalanced diet can lead us to muscular issues and even neurological problems. Furthermore, if the majority of people living on Earth only eat vegetables, it can cause huge impact on meat vendors as they will soon be jobless and farmers will earn less according to such situation.
To sum up, in my opinion, I think both sides of the problem has its supporting ideas and factors, and it is in our own freewill as to decide whether we are in favour of eating a vegetarian diet or not.

Vegetarianism is becoming more and more popular for many people, particularly because of the harm that some people believe meat can cause to the body. However, I strongly believe that it is not necessary for everybody to be a vegetarian.
Vegetarians believe that meat is unhealthy because of the diseases it has been connected with. There has been much research to suggest that red meat is particularly bad, for example, and that consumption should be limited to eating it just a few times a week to avoid such things as cancer. Meats can also be high in saturated fats so they have been linked to health problems such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
However, there are strong arguments for eating meat. The first reason is that as humans we are designed to eat meat, which suggests it is not unhealthy, and we have been eating meat for thousands of years. For example, cavemen made hunting implements so that they could kill animals and eat their meat. Secondly, meat is a rich source of protein which helps to build muscles and bones. Vegetarians often have to take supplements to get all the essential vitamins and minerals. Finally, it may be the case that too much meat is harmful, but we can easily limit the amount we have without having to cut it out of our diet completely.
To sum up, I do not agree that everyone should turn to a vegetarian diet. Although the overconsumption of meat could possibly be unhealthy, a balanced diet of meat and vegetables should result in a healthy body.

Vegetarianism has become the hallmark of modern food habits. The one time essentially non- vegetarian West is also to day, turning to vegetarianism. This trend has a basic cause, and that is the belief that, most health hazards in modern life are caused by this non-vegetarian food.
On the religious front it is believed that, by eating animal foods man’s traits and habits also become animal like as, it is strongly believed that, the food we eat has a direct influence on our bent of mind. If we eat animal food we become more of brutes than men as we are meant to be.
Thus, to remain human, man must avoid consuming animal foods. Besides this, many philosophers and religious people believe that, we have no right to kill any living being and that also for our food. When man is not in a position to give life to any one, they think that man also has no right to take life.
In the earlier stages of social development man did eat raw meat of all kinds of animals it could kill, and, if we see pictures of men of those times I daresay they really did look like animals. As time passed, man invented the art of cooking so; even non-vegetarian food was being cooked.
However, the belief that, animal food was unholy continued. This belief of course pertained only to India as, the Western countries continued non-vegetarian food and yet was called more civilized.
After centuries of consuming non-vegetarian foods, today, at the outset of the 21st Century East and West are both looking towards non-vegetarianism as a major killer, and thus tuning to vegetarianism.
This phenomenal change in the outlook and attitude of all people across the globe has recently taken momentum as, doctors and researchers declare loudly and openly the hazards of eating non- vegetarian foods. The fact of the matter is that, north- vegetarian food is more difficult to chew nicely and thence more difficult to digest and, in turn thus, more of a strain on the digestive system.
In order to digest non-vegetarian food, the internal organs are strained more than what they can bear and so, they get destroyed much before their age would allow. It is also said by experts that, non-vegetarian food has a direct or indirect connection with most of the killer diseases of the day. Most of the diseases common in to-day’s medical parlance were unheard of in earlier times.
With this fear of causing damage to health, the belief in vegetarianism is gaining ground. All papers, all magazines of any repute, keep informing the public of the impact and harm caused by taking non-vegetarian food, and they continue to suggest more intake of vegetables and salads and fruits in the diet.
With this daily dose of reading articles on advantages of vegetarianism, and the weaknesses of consuming non-vegetarian food, there is a quick and tremendous swing towards vegetarianism. This is not true only to India but has become a worldwide phenomenon.

Healthy lifestyles have come to dominate the minds of many people in the contemporary society, a fact that has brought to life many exciting trends in all aspects of social functioning. As food is directly related to our health, it is no wonder that people have begun to pay increased attention to the food they eat. In particular, this interest has sparked renewal of vegetarianism, which is an easy way to attain a healthy lifestyle through abandoning animal foods.
Vegetarianism has important philosophical grounds related to murdering animals and the fact that all life on earth should be respected and protected. Unlike extreme ideas about animal rights that go as far as forbid people to ride mules for their benefit, advocates of vegetarianism proceed from one simple principle – that killing is wrong and animals have the same right to live. In theory, such a position means that a person is striving to live in harmony with the outer world, a feature that in itself can promote healthier lifestyle. However, there more matter-of-fact arguments in favor of vegetarianism, and these arguments hinge on the nutritional benefits of a veggie diet.
There is no need to remind that obesity in many developed nations including the US is acquiring threatening dimensions, turning into a national problem. Thus, for an average American man the risk of dying of a heart attack amounts to 50%, whereas for a vegetarian this risk is only 15%, a fact explained by relative consumption of cholesterol by meat eaters and vegetarians (Vegsource).
The effect of meat consumption upon the origin of cancer has not been studied in detail, but statistics found in different studies indicate that a person can reduce the risk of cancer greatly by reducing intake of meat and related products. Most cancer researchers report that vegetarianism reduces the risk of cancer. Consumption of meat raises the “risk of breast cancer for women who eat meat daily compared to less than once a week” by 3.8 times (Vegsource). Men who are used to daily consumption of meat, eggs and other animal foods the risk of prostate cancer increases by 3.6 times as opposed to those who only occasionally eat these products. Even frequent consumption of eggs or butter leads to greater risk of developing cancer as opposed to those who have totally given up animal products, as breast cancer risk increases by 3.25 times with butter and cheese consumption and 2.8 times for egg eating. These data suggest that even partial reduction in the amount of meat consumed can lead to decreased risk of cancer, a serious argument in favour or rethinking one’s attitudes towards vegetarianism.
Some people may argue that meat contains protein and other substances that are absolutely indispensable for their health and help them grow big and strong. Men in particular can be concerned that if they give up meat altogether, this may leave them emaciated and undernourished. Scientists indicate that “the muscle meat of animals for slaughter contains an average of 3-30% fat, 21% protein, 1% mineral salts (e.g. table salt, calcium, phosphoric acid), 0,5% carbohydrates and 70-75% water, and vitamins” with fat, protein and carbohydrates being easily replaceable with plant food (Lopa Berlin 2004). This adds up to the fact that animal fats demonstrate high concentration and risk of overconsuming protein with the excessive intake of meats. Protein, the main aim of many meat eaters, is available from grain, soy beans and many varieties of nuts, and so vegetarians consuming these products supply their bodies with all necessary nutrients. Thus, there should be no fear that a vegetarian diet will deprive a human body of necessary nutrients.
Besides, this discussion does not focus on some abstract concept of meat. Talking of meat that is produced in the US, for instance, one can find many additional arguments in support of vegetarianism. Thus, of all antibiotic medication produced in the US, 55% is fed to animals (Lopa Berlin 2004). This is a serious reason to ponder once again about the quality of the products we consume on a daily basis. From 1960 to 1988, the proportion of staphylococci infections resistant to penicillin rose from 13% to 91% (Vegsource). The potential danger of animals developing infections resistant to currently known antibiotics has led the European Union to prohibit their use, while it is still allowed in the US. An American giving up meat, therefore, shields one’s organism from serious dangers.
Thus, vegetarianism can help one to protect one’s health and thus is an inalienable feature of a healthy lifestyle. A person choosing a plant-based diet will more easily lose extra weight if any. Vegetarians are at lower risk for a number of serious diseases including cancer, and will not suffer from inadequate controls over meat production. These are strong arguments in favor of a vegetarian diet that can help many people improve the quality of their lifestyle.
